Dear Daffodil
60cm x 60cm oil on stretched canvas - framed in floating frame.
Daffodils hold a special place in my heart for a number of reasons. These cheery little sunshine bombs always bring hope and excitement when they pop their sunny heads out late Winter and into early Spring, sounding the trumpets for flowers galore and warmer weather on it's way.
My late Nan grew hosts of daffodils in her garden, and the trees that lined the driveway had daffodils adorning around their feet. I looked forward to the spectacular show every Spring. My late grandparents on Mum's side taught me the poems by William Wordsworth and Robert Herrick on daffodils (and I still treasure their poetry books that they had for their schooling in England and Ireland).
With the sunshine illuminating the petals of this sweet daffodil, I couldn't help fall in love and want to capture the magic on canvas.
'Dear Daffodil' is currently on display and for sale as part of my Floriography Exhibition at Art Gallery on Ovens in Wangaratta until the 31st of October 2022.
