Silently Devoted
Painting the depths of the peony petals is a pure delight. Discovering the ranges of reds and deep magentas as I mix colours on my brush to caress the depths of the flowers centre or play on the edge of the sun kissed outer petal lips is divine. Silently Devoted was no exception.
The colours of the reference flower were so sensitive that if I moved rooms while painting, I would pick up red hues in one room, and in another there would be a touch of deep maroons. The sensitivity of the peony in the light is just another reason why I love this flower so much.
